This white spacer thing is a subject I've been following closely for months, reading all Bert's Forum entries etc. The following question has arisen from a conversation with a cycle mechanic recently. I'd like your opinions on what he said is "possible" and "worth checking on" before loading the piston crown with extra force from extra fuel. For what it's worth, here't'goes....

It seems that everyone thinks the factory sets the bike so lean for EPA reasons, which seems logical in this day and age. But do you think there's any possiblity it might be that their technical engine design requires the factory carb settings to allow only the "default" amount of fuel into the combustion chamber ? Do you think the piston and it's related parts can handle the extra "explosion" power of extra fuel ?

Overall, I still think the Savage engine is way-underexploited by aftermarket companies and such. I think this motor is great, a big single, classic basic style, easy maintenance, you know the rest. I'd bet that with the right goodies, this thumper could pump out lots more horsies easy. Wouldn't that be a grin ??
Maybe if more people would write/call/email some of these companies and ask about Savage accessories, they would come up with some. I'd love nothing more than spend a winter refitting the hog with new cam and piston or whatever. 50 horsepower anybody ??

How's everyone's summer so far ?

Tim
